Job summary

ASML US, LLC in San Diego, CA is seeking a PLC Engineer to design and integrate Siemens PLC-based control systems for advanced EUV lithography platforms. You’ll work with a multidisciplinary team to deliver reliable automation solutions that meet stringent performance, quality, and schedule requirements.

The role emphasizes hands-on development, validation, and collaboration with suppliers, system architects, and software engineers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years of experience designing PLC-based automation and control systems.
• Experience programming Siemens PLCs using TIA Portal, PLCSIM, HMI.
• Experience with Siemens SIMIT simulation platform and PLC validation methodologies.
• Proficiency with LAD, SCL, FBD, and STL programming languages.
• Experience implementing PID control loops, serial communications, and industrial control architectures.
• Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary engineering teams to define system requirements.
• Hands-on experience troubleshooting electronic systems at the module and system level.
• Experience with PLC test benches, digital twins, design validation, and qualification activities.
• Experience with auto-generated PLC code from Simulink models is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design software and firmware for Siemens PLC systems that meet requirements and schedules.
• Define system specifications and translate requirements into robust control solutions.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and suppliers for timely delivery of reliable products.
• Select and evaluate hardware architectures and components for complex systems.
• Promote best practices in PLC design and industrial automation methodologies.
• Develop and maintain PLC test benches and simulation environments.
• Support system integration, troubleshooting, validation and qualification activities.
• Contribute to technical roadmaps and adoption of new technologies.
• Provide accurate project status updates and technical documentation to leadership.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
