Job summary

ASML is seeking a Materials Engineer to act as the primary materials expert for EUV Lithography Light Source modules. You will guide material selection, compatibility, and reliability, working with design teams, suppliers, and quality groups to ensure performance and long-term product integrity.

The role emphasizes advanced characterization (SEM, EDS/EDX, XPS, AFM) and failure analysis within a fast-paced, high-tech environment. On-site in San Diego, some travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Materials Science/Engineering or related field; Master's or PhD preferred.
• 5 years of relevant Materials Engineering experience.
• Experience with material characterization, microstructural analysis, and surface evaluation techniques.
• Experience in semiconductor/high-tech manufacturing or advanced technology environments preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership on material selection, compatibility, and reliability for EUV Lithography Light Source components.
• Perform and interpret materials evaluation techniques, including hardness, tensile, fracture analysis, and metallography.
• Analyze material microstructures and surface conditions to support design reviews and decision making.
• Lead or support structured failure analysis and root-cause investigations; document findings and mitigation strategies.
