Job summary

Actalent in Chattanooga, TN is seeking a Software Controls Engineer to design and develop control software for PLC and embedded controllers, translating customer needs into software requirements.

You will implement control algorithms for motors, hydraulics, sensors; develop HMI displays; perform unit and integration testing; participate in design reviews. This hybrid role involves one week per month in the Chattanooga office with competitive benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years of experience developing industrial or mobile equipment control software.
• Hands-on experience with PLC or embedded control systems, C, or Structured Text programming, and HMI development.
• Experience integrating sensors and actuators such as pressure, temperature, motors, and valves.

Responsibilities

• Develop control software for PLC and embedded controllers.
• Design and program HMI/operator displays.
• Translate product and customer needs into software requirements.
• Implement and test control algorithms for motors, valves, hydraulics, and sensors.
• Perform unit and integration testing on machines.
• Lead or participate in software and HMI design reviews.
