Job summary

Jacobs is seeking a Piping Engineer for its Building Mechanical team. This hybrid role supports projects across the U.S. with offices and remote locations, delivering state-of-the-art piping design for industrial facilities.

You will lead piping discipline tasks, coordinate with multiple disciplines, mentor junior staff, and ensure compliant, efficient design practices while traveling as needed.

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical Engineering
• 8+ years’ experience in piping design for industrial and commercial facilities
• Strong written and verbal skill set
• Ability to perform field/site visits and travel (~10%)
• Adaptability to fast-paced team with multiple deadlines

Responsibilities

• Navigate piping procedures and codes for design projects
• Perform piping systems concept development
• Generate piping design calculations for sizing
• Create P&ID’s and Block Flow Diagrams
• Perform equipment selections
• Generate specifications for systems and equipment
• Coordinate with project teams, contractors and other disciplines
• Perform static pipe stress analysis
• Review drawings produced by team members
• Lead a piping design team within the discipline
• Support work for/in other offices and countries, including travel
• Organize and delegate work to others
• Collaborate with remote team members on design work
• QA reviews of drawings by juniors
• Formulate design criteria for project specs and drawings
• Mentor junior staff
