Core Group Resources in Houston, TX is seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to manage accurate, timely payroll processing and ensure regulatory compliance across the organization.

The role serves as a primary payroll contact, with a typical schedule of in-office Monday–Wednesday and work-from-home Thursday–Friday, offering a hybrid work arrangement and opportunities to work with an international footprint.

Qualifications

• Must have strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Experience with payroll software and Excel is required.
• Certification in payroll processing is preferred.
• College-level accounting coursework is advantageous.
• Ability to work independently and solve problems.

Responsibilities

• Process payroll accurately and on schedule for all employees.
• Calculate wages, deductions, overtime, bonuses, and other compensation elements.
• Maintain payroll records and ensure data accuracy across pay periods.
• Process statutory deductions and contributions in accordance with applicable requirements.
• Reconcile payroll discrepancies and respond to employee pay inquiries.
• Support year-end payroll processes, tax filings, and audits.
• Maintain compliance with wage and hour laws and company policy.
• Collaborate with HR and Finance on new hires, terminations, and status changes in payroll.
• Process leave balances, PTO, and unpaid leave adjustments.
• Maintain confidentiality of sensitive payroll data.
