Job summary

Moss Consulting is seeking a Payroll Specialist to support our Payroll Manager across a diverse client portfolio. You will prep and process payrolls, run off-cycle payments, and ensure accuracy across multiple pay schedules.

This role requires fast pace, strong numerical skills, and clear communication. You’ll own payrolls end-to-end with a hybrid Austin-based team, reporting to the Payroll Manager and collaborating with HRIS and benefits colleagues.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business, HR, Mathematics, or related field.
• 2–5 years of payroll experience.
• Strong proficiency in Excel.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proactive mindset in a fast-paced, multi-client environment.
• Attention to detail under deadline pressure.
• Experience with employee benefits and payroll interactions.

Responsibilities

• Stay on top of each client payroll cycle, deadlines, calendars, and cutoffs across accounts.
• Prepare and process client payrolls and off-cycle payrolls.
• Assist Payroll Manager and broader payroll team as needed.
• Resolve discrepancies before payroll finalization and escalate when unclear.
• Maintain clean, audit-ready payroll records for every client.
• Coordinate with clients and internal teams on benefit deductions and reconciliations.
• Support HRIS implementations and data migrations where applicable.
• Manage data flow between payroll, HRIS, and benefits systems.
