Job summary

MDS Staffing in Carlsbad, CA is seeking a Payroll Specialist to join its payroll team. This client-facing role requires understanding the full payroll process beyond data entry, focusing on data validation, anomaly detection, and timely biweekly processing to ensure accuracy and compliance.

You will work with clients and internal teams to onboard new accounts, review input data, resolve discrepancies, and deliver a white-glove service experience.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of hands-on payroll experience, including biweekly payroll processing.

Responsibilities

• Manage payroll processing for an assigned portfolio of clients, including recurring biweekly payrolls.
• Receive, review, and validate payroll information submitted by clients.
• Understand how employee changes, compensation, deductions, benefits, and other payroll inputs affect the final payroll.
• Review payroll reports and system output for accuracy and identify discrepancies or unusual results.
• Research and resolve payroll issues by understanding the root cause rather than simply relying on the payroll system.
• Ensure payrolls are completed accurately and on schedule.
• Maintain accurate client records and documentation.
