Job summary

Indiana University Health is seeking a personable Payroll Specialist I to join our Payroll Shared Services call center in Indianapolis, IN. The role focuses on inbound call resolution, ensuring accurate payroll processing and timely responses to team members.

You will use multiple systems (Oracle, UKG, ServiceNow) to resolve inquiries, audit hours, and manage cases. The position is full-time with a hybrid schedule and opportunities for growth within the payroll career path.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED required.
• Associate's degree or equivalent years of experience preferred.
• 0-3 years of relevant experience; basic payroll experience preferred.
• Experience in Microsoft programs (Word, Excel).
• HDI certification is required to have or obtain within 6 months of hire (PRSS will pay for certification).

Responsibilities

• Serve as first point of contact for inbound payroll calls (50–130 calls/day).
• Resolve payroll inquiries on first call by pulling timecards and payslips in real time.
• Create and manage cases/tickets in the shared services system for deeper follow-up.
• Review, analyze, and audit employee hours to ensure accurate payment per pay practices and FLSA.
• Navigate multiple systems (Oracle, UKG, Teams, Sharewell/ServiceNow).
