Job Details
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Payroll Manager to join our team. This is a hybrid role that will oversee all payroll-related activities for our company in the construction industry. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in payroll management, accounting, and a high attention to detail. This role will be responsible for managing the payroll of approximately 400 employees, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and confidentiality at all times.
Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage the preparation, distribution, and reporting processes for weekly payroll.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices.
- Coordinate with HR to ensure correct employee data.
- Manage and resolve issues relating to payroll production.
- Implement, maintain, and review payroll processing systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions.
- Prepare and maintain accurate records and reports of payroll transactions.
- Facilitate audits by providing records and documentation to auditors.
- Identify and recommend updates to payroll processing software, systems, and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a payroll management role, preferably within the construction industry.
- Proven experience with UKG and salary payroll.
- Experience managing a payroll of around 400 employees (including union and salary payroll)
- Proficient with automated payroll systems and a strong working knowledge of payroll tax laws and regulations.
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation is preferred.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise extreme discretion.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to function effectively as part of a team.
- Strong knowledge of the construction industry and its unique payroll considerations is a plus.
