Payroll Specialist

Position Overview

LHH Recruitment Solutions is partnering with a well-established construction company that is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Payroll Specialist. This position is responsible for processing accurate and timely payroll for a diverse workforce, including both union and non-union employees. The ideal candidate will have strong payroll experience within the construction industry and a solid understanding of prevailing wage and union payroll requirements.

This role requires exceptional attention to detail, knowledge of payroll regulations, and the ability to work collaboratively with project managers, HR, accounting, and field personnel to ensure payroll accuracy and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

• Process weekly and bi-weekly payroll for construction employees.
• Accurately maintain employee payroll records, earnings, deductions, garnishments, and benefits.
• Review and verify employee timecards, job costing allocations, and labor hours.
• Prepare and submit certified payroll reports when required.
• Manage union payroll requirements, including fringe benefit calculations, dues, and reporting.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, local, and union payroll regulations.
• Process payroll adjustments, bonuses, reimbursements, and prevailing wage calculations.
• Respond to employee payroll inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
• Reconcile payroll reports and assist with month-end and year-end payroll activities.
• Support audits and provide payroll documentation as requested.
• Maintain confidentiality of employee and payroll information.

Qualifications

Required

• 3+ years of payroll experience.
• Experience processing high-volume payroll.
• Strong knowledge of payroll laws, tax regulations, and compliance requirements.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and payroll software systems.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Strong communication and problem-solving abilities.

Preferred

• Payroll experience within the construction industry.
• Experience processing union payroll and working with collective bargaining agreements.
• Knowledge of prevailing wage regulations and certified payroll reporting.
• CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) certification is a plus.
• Familiarity with job costing and labor allocation processes.

Pay Details: $55,000.00 to $65,000.00 per year
