Job summary

Jobot is seeking a Payroll Accountant in Charlotte, NC for a full-time, permanent role in the construction industry. The position manages payroll for 400 employees (union and non-union) and supports monthly and year-end close processes with accuracy and strong organizational skills.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in payroll and accounting, a Bachelor's degree in a related field, and proficiency with payroll systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in payroll and accounting, preferably within the construction industry.
• Proven experience managing payroll for a large team, including both union and non-union employees.
• Strong understanding of payroll and tax regulations.
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Proficiency in accounting software and payroll systems.
• Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure.
• Experience with month-end and year-end close processes.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment and build strong relationships with colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Manage the weekly and biweekly payroll processes for our team of 400 employees, ensuring accurate and timely payment.
• Handle all aspects of union and non-union payroll, including deductions, benefits, and taxes.
• Prepare and submit monthly payroll entries to the General Ledger (GL).
• Reconcile payroll accounts and resolve any discrepancies promptly.
• Assist with month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring all payroll-related entries are accurately recorded and reported.
• Prepare and present monthly payroll reports to management, highlighting trends, issues, and recommendations.
• Stay current with all relevant payroll and tax regulations, ensuring our payroll processes remain compliant.
• Collaborate with other members of the finance team to streamline processes, improve accuracy, and enhance reporting.

Education
