Job summary

Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center in Seattle, WA, is seeking a Patient Services Representative to be the first contact for patients, families and caregivers, handling check-in and front-desk inquiries in a fast-paced healthcare setting.

The role supports intake, calls and scheduling with partial on-site and remote work options, Monday–Friday 6:45am–3:15pm, 1.0 FTE. The successful candidate will have strong communication, organization and customer service skills.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Six months to one year experience in a customer service environment.
• Ability to work in a fast paced, complex healthcare environment.
• Effectively organize and manage time and tasks independently.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficient in basic computer use and email.

Responsibilities

• Greets and screens patients arriving for appointments and checks them in using an automated scheduling system.
• Assembles and distributes appropriate paperwork to patients, families, caregivers and clinical staff.
• Triage questions and concerns from callers and forward to appropriate staff or department as needed.
• Performs general clerical duties including processing mail, inventory and ordering office supplies.
• Activates provider orders (Alliance Lab only).
• May schedule patient appointments as ordered by clinician.
• May be responsible for the facilitation of patient flow.
• Verifies demographic, clinical and financial information with patient as required.
• Sends new patient packet information to patients as directed.
