Job summary

UPMC is hiring a full-time Patient Financial Coordinator to support the Patient Advocacy department at the Professional Billing Office in Camp Hill, PA. The role focuses on financial counseling for uninsured or underinsured patients and assisting with applications for Pennsylvania Medical Assistance, the Health Insurance Marketplace, and UPMC Financial Assistance.

The position operates Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m.

Responsibilities

• Assist walk-in patients with billing inquiries and resolve issues in collaboration with the Patient Financial Services Department.
• Assist patients with applying for UPMC Financial Assistance program and Health Insurance Marketplace where eligible.
• Ensure regulatory and financial requirements are met and maintain compliance with quality standards.
• Monitor work queues and follow up within expected timeframes; resolve complex patient issues.
• Provide benefit education and financial counseling during clinic appointments and follow-up discussions by phone.
• Submit Medical Assistance Presumptive Eligibility applications within the mandated five-day requirement.
