Job summary

Independent Health in Williamsville, NY seeks a Patient Care Specialist to support pharmacy operations. You will handle incoming and outgoing calls, assist with billing inquiries, data entry, and coordination of benefits under supervision of the Operations & Compliance manager.

This hybrid role requires a high school diploma, 1 year in a high-volume pharmacy or 6 months in the role, and has a compensation range of $21.50–$22.50 per hour with full benefits. Immigration sponsorship is not provided.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• 1 year of experience in a high volume pharmacy, or 6 months as a temp in Patient Care Specialist or Reliance Operations & Compliance.
• National Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT) preferred.
• Experience with online claims processing system preferred.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to work with healthcare professionals.
• Ability to lift a minimum of 5 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Answer patient inquiries about billing, procedures, policies and services.
• Liaise between patients and insurance companies; facilitate communication with doctors and staff.
• Maintain patient records; filing and documentation duties.
• Data entry; packaging and shipping.
• Coordinate benefits; financial arrangements and co-pay collection.
• Assist with prior authorizations and billing.
• Work as a team within patient services and other departments to improve processes.
