Job summary

UMass Amherst is seeking an Operations Manager for the Graduate Registrar to oversee day-to-day operations of the Graduate Student Service Center (GSSC) in Amherst, including scheduling and assignment of classified staff, and ensuring effective delivery of all GSSC services. Oversees graduate admissions, graduate student records, and degree clearance.

This hybrid, full-time role requires strong organizational skills, policy implementation, data reporting, and collaboration with graduate programs

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; 3+ years supervising staff preferred.
• Strong organizational and communication skills essential.
• Experience with enterprise student systems is a plus.
• Ability to analyze complex situations and manage multiple projects.

Responsibilities

• Manages day-to-day operations of the Graduate Student Service Center (GSSC).
• Schedules and assigns classified staff; oversees operations for graduate admissions, records, and degree clearance.
• Supervises customer service staff and manages workloads based on the office calendar.
• Oversees recruitment, training, and performance management of staff.
• Makes policy recommendations and collaborates with management to implement updates.
• Produces data reports and maintains Graduate School web pages and communications.
• Serves as central contact to triage inquiries from departments, faculty, and students.
• Coordinates staff training with IT and Graduate Admissions teams.
• Supports commencement and new graduate orientation activities.
