Job summary

UnCommon Law is seeking an undergraduate Operations Intern for Spring 2027 to join our Operations and Finance Team. The role offers a hands-on learning experience in nonprofit operations, including reception, correspondence, and records management, with mentorship and structured assignments.

The position is part-time (15–20 hours/week), unpaid with a $600 stipend per semester, beginning January 11, 2027 and ending May 14, 2027.

Qualifications

• Compassion for incarcerated people and their families, and a demonstrated interest in criminal justice reform.
• Spanish language skills preferred.
• Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Professional demeanor and pleasant disposition.
• Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Sensitivity to confidential matters.
• Working proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Google Suite, and CRM software.

Responsibilities

• Learn nonprofit reception operations: greeting callers, gathering info, routing inquiries, logging messages.
• Assist with scanning, logging, organizing, and triaging incoming mail.
• Gain experience with outgoing mail workflows: packaging, tracking, mailing materials.
• Support office organization, records management, inventory, or other operational projects.
• Participate in training to learn nonprofit operations and administration.
• Assist with short-term Operations and Finance projects.
