Job summary

Spectrum Brands, Inc. is seeking a New Product Industrial Designer to drive consumer-focused design within its Home & Garden R&D team.

You will translate consumer desires into innovative hard goods, collaborating with engineering, marketing, manufacturing and supply chain to prototype and test ideas. The role combines aesthetic design with engineering rigor, requiring strong CAD skills, rapid prototyping, and a portfolio demonstrating design-for-manufacturing capabilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Industrial Design with 4+ years in industrial design.
• 3+ years in hard goods design execution and consumer product development.
• Portfolio showcasing design thinking and prototyping.
• Experience with materials like injection molding, thermoforming, etc.

Responsibilities

• Translate consumer insights into new consumer-focused products.
• Collaborate with Marketing, NPD, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain on opportunities.
• Develop design concepts focused on ergonomics, form, and function.
• Create 2D/3D renders and physical prototypes using rapid prototyping.
• Test looks-like and functional prototypes; iterate designs.
• Support supplier relationships to accelerate product implementation.
• Balance aesthetic design with technical, manufacturable solutions.
• Contribute to AI-driven ideation and iterative development.
