Job summary

Spectrum Brands is seeking a New Product Industrial Designer for its Home & Garden R&D team. You will translate consumer needs into innovative products, collaborating with engineering, marketing and manufacturing to develop, prototype and iterate designs that emphasize usability and manufacturability.

The role requires a strong background in industrial design, 4+ years of experience, and proficiency with 3D modeling and rendering software.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Industrial Design and 4+ years in industrial design.
• Experience in hard goods design execution.
• Proficiency with 3D modeling software and rendering tools.
• Portfolio demonstrating design thinking, prototyping and DFx knowledge.
• Strong collaboration with engineering, marketing and manufacturing.

Responsibilities

• Understand consumer insights and translate into new product concepts.
• Collaborate with Marketing, New Product Development, Manufacturing and Supply Chain to identify opportunities.
• Develop ergonomic, form and function concepts for hard and packaged goods.
• Create 2D/3D renderings and physical form studies; prototype and iterate.
• Partner with mechanical engineering for design-for-manufacturing and tooling considerations.
• Maintain rapid prototyping machinery and fabricate looks-like prototypes.
