Placements24 seeks an experienced Mechanical Maintenance Fitter for a facility in Upington, Northern Cape. You will install, repair and maintain mechanical equipment across production lines, diagnose issues, and ensure uptime.

The role requires fitting, machining and welding expertise, with a focus on pumps, conveyors and processing gear. The position supports a hybrid work approach, involving site visits within the region.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification as Mechanical Fitter or Machinist.
• Minimum 4 years of hands-on maintenance experience in an industrial setting.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and specifications.
• Skilled in fitting, turning, and welding (arc, MIG).

Responsibilities

• Perform routine preventative maintenance on industrial mechanical equipment.
• Diagnose and repair failures in pumps, gearboxes, conveyors and processing equipment.
• Install new equipment and ensure proper alignment and setup.
• Read and interpret mechanical drawings and blueprints.
• Carry out repairs using fitting, machining and welding techniques.
• Troubleshoot issues and identify root causes of failures.
• Maintain a clean and organized workshop and record maintenance activity.
