Job summary

Ford Motor Company is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer Lead to provide leadership across a new model development program from concept to final assembly. The role emphasizes lean manufacturing, tooling development, and seamless integration with design and release activities.

The position requires travel to North American assembly plants, strong communication skills, and the ability to deliver high-quality instructions and process improvements in a dynamic plant environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or an equivalent manufacturing engineering.
• Willingness to travel and support launch activities at NA plants.
• Travel up to 40-50% of the time.

Responsibilities

• Provide manufacturing engineering leadership throughout a new model development program.
• Develop tooling and facilities based on product and process.
• Apply lean manufacturing principles.
• Lead virtual manufacturing assembly builds.
• Drive resolution of manufacturing issues.
• Interface with Design and Release activities.
• Develop assembly process instructions and VPS process sheets.
• Lead tooling specification purchase, installation, start-up and commissioning.
• Track open tooling and process issues to closure and meet exit criteria.
• Prepare management presentations.
• Drive quality, cost and labor improvements.
• Support new model launches; extensive travel and plant-based work during launches.
