Job summary

American Water, the nation's largest publicly traded water and wastewater utility, seeks an experienced Corporate/M&A Counsel to support mergers, acquisitions, and major commercial contracts.

You will advise business leaders, manage outside counsel, navigate regulatory approvals, and collaborate with Legal, Finance, Operations, and Regulatory teams in a hybrid in-office/remote capacity in the Camden, NJ area.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor from an accredited law school.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant legal experience in M&A and corporate transactions.
• Experience providing timely, actionable legal advice in a fast-paced, business-driven environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide legal counsel on corporate, transactional, and commercial matters with a focus on mergers and acquisitions.
• Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements (MSAs, NDAs, service contracts, real estate-related agreements).
• Lead and manage M&A transactions, including integration activities and regulatory approvals; coordinate with internal teams and outside counsel.
