Job summary

Merchants Insurance Group in Mt. Laurel, NJ is seeking a Litigation Claims Adjuster to join our Claims Legal Team.

The role handles high-exposure litigated claims with complex liability and property damage, requires collaboration with attorneys and experts, and offers a hybrid schedule with two days in-office weekly. Applicants should have a 4-year degree (or equivalent), substantial commercial claims experience, and the ability to oversee defense counsel.

Qualifications

• 4-year degree or equivalent work-related experience required.
• 5+ years' experience handling commercial lines claims; NY Labor Law, construction defect and/or third-party property damage claims a plus.
• JD and insurance defense experience encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

• Cultivate relationships with claims staff, policyholders, attorneys, agents and service providers to achieve optimal outcomes.
• Manage a portfolio of complex and high exposure litigated claims with liability and damage issues.
• Interpret policy language, evaluate coverage, and prepare timely coverage letters.
• Conduct thorough investigations and equitable settlements for assigned claims.
• Ensure reserves align with reserving philosophy and practices.
• Negotiate fair settlements directly with attorneys.
• Identify risk transfer opportunities through contracts and applicable law.
