Job summary

Merchants Insurance Group in Bedford, New Hampshire, is seeking a Litigation Claims Adjuster to join our Claims Legal Team in the Bedford office. You will focus on auto and general liability claims, including New York Labor Law, construction defect, premises and third-party property damage.

The role requires handling complex litigated claims with attorneys and service providers, providing exceptional customer service, evaluating coverage, and negotiating fair settlements while maintaining

Qualifications

• 4-year degree or equivalent work-related experience.
• 5+ years’ experience handling commercial lines claims.
• JD and insurance defense experience encouraged to apply.
• Ability to oversee defense counsel and develop resolution strategies.
• Professional designations are a plus.
• Excellent organization, negotiation, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Cultivate relationships with claims, policyholders, attorneys and service providers.
• Provide high level of customer service while managing a portfolio of complex litigated claims.
• Evaluate coverage by interpreting policy language and prepare coverage position letters.
• Direct timely investigations, evaluation and equitable settlement of assigned claims.
• Ensure reserves align with established reserving philosophy.
• Negotiate settlements with attorneys.
• Identify risk transfer opportunities through contracts and applicable law.
