Job summary

Ballard Spahr LLP is seeking a Business Development Manager for the Litigation practice, in a hybrid role with three days in the office. The role focuses on identifying relationships, promoting firm capabilities, managing a BD pipeline, and partnering with practice leaders to execute strategic plans.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of professional services marketing, preferably in law, with strong communication, editing, and project management skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field is required.
• Five+ years of professional services marketing or business development experience preferred.
• Experience supporting complex practice groups in a large law firm is valued.

Responsibilities

• Lead efforts to identify relationships and raise awareness of firm capabilities.
• Promote services while aligning with targets and client objectives.
• Maintain a rolling pipeline to forecast opportunities and assist attorneys in achieving goals.
• Partner with Practice Group Leaders to develop and implement strategic plans.
• Lead BD strategy for events, sponsorships, and related marketing activities.
• Provide guidance on positioning, messaging, and content for pitches and RFPs.
• Assist with budgeting and ROI evaluation for BD/marketing expenditures.
• Provide BD coaching in group and one-on-one settings.
• Develop target lists and opportunities for new business.
• Market lawyers' services in industry forums and thought leadership initiatives.
• Ensure marketing materials are current and accessible.
