Job summary

LAC Federal in Washington, DC is seeking an experienced Cataloger to support a major federal library. You will catalog books, digital resources, and other materials, ensuring bibliographic accuracy within an ILS.

The hybrid position may require on-site work in Washington, DC and offers opportunities to contribute to metadata management, LC classifications, and standards compliance across diverse formats.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in library and information science or equivalent from an ALA-accredited institution.
• At least 2 years of cataloging experience.
• Strong knowledge of cataloging standards (RDA, AACR2, LCSH, LCC, MARC21).

Responsibilities

• Perform original and copy cataloging of library materials using OCLC, RDA Toolkit, MARC records, and SirsiDynix.
• Create and update bibliographic records within the ILS and manage holdings in OCLC as needed.
• Maintain catalog accuracy, withdraw records, and support collection space planning initiatives.
• Document cataloging best practices and local guidelines; stay current with evolving standards and best practices.
