Job summary

Spencer Fane LLP is seeking a Billing Specialist to manage client invoices and deliver excellent service for internal and external clients. Under direct supervision, you will generate monthly proformas and pre-bills, apply discounts, and ensure timely billing across multiple offices.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years of legal billing experience, proficiency with Aderant and Elite, and strong organization and communication skills to support attorneys and staff.

Qualifications

• Associates or Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field preferred.
• Minimum 3+ years of legal billing experience preferred.
• Experience with Aderant, Elite, and Thomson Elite eBILLINGHUB preferred.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel).

Responsibilities

• Generate attorney-edited changes on monthly proformas and pre-bills for multiple offices.
• Maintain awareness of billing instructions and rate exceptions.
• Complete tasks to generate client invoices.
• Troubleshoot issues in Aderant.
• Prepare and send edited invoices to legal administrative assistants.
• Provide ad hoc reports and monthly proforma assistance.
• Process WIP write/downs with approvals.
• Apply unallocated funds with attorney direction.
• Respond to attorney and LAA requests for invoice changes.
• Ensure timely billing for next cycle.
