Job summary

The University of Michigan's Michigan Dining unit seeks an experienced Training Specialist to oversee onboarding programs, safety training, and departmental policies to maintain training compliance for Dining professionals and bargained-for staff. The role develops learning methods, tracks requirements, and ensures effective programs in partnership with Learning & Development leadership.

Work is in a hybrid capacity, with 3 days onsite in Ann Arbor and 2 days remote.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and professional experience in a corporate environment.
• 2+ years of experience in training or instructional design roles.
• Experience in facilitating and presenting.
• Experience in content development and needs analysis.
• Experience in designing training materials (manuals, presentations, e-learning).
• Experience using digital tools for training content creation.
• Familiarity with multimedia tools (video editing, graphic design).
• ServSafe certification within 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Learning & Development leadership to plan, develop, and implement training reviews and tracking.
• Coordinate centralized and in-unit staff training efforts.
• Review training effectiveness against learning outcomes and assist with new initiatives.
• Maintain records of training activities and employee progress toward compliance.
• Standardize the annual departmental training schedule for all staff.
