Job summary

CubeSmart is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to drive technical delivery of the enterprise store operating platform from the Malvern, PA office. You will lead a high-performance team, set technical direction, and collaborate with hosting, infrastructure, and product teams in a hybrid environment (2 days remote, 3 days in office).

The role emphasizes agile leadership, secure and scalable software development, and modernization using open source and cloud-native practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent technical field.
• 10+ years building, leading and supporting omni-channel commerce platforms.
• Experience leading development teams, roadmaps, and standards.
• DevOps experience with Infrastructure as Code.
• Proficiency in Ruby on Rails, C# .NET, Python, Java, JavaScript, NodeJS, Rust.
• Strong RESTful APIs, microservices, and cloud-native design (AWS).
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and testing strategies (TDD/BDD).
• Familiarity with databases: MongoDB, PostgreSQL, Oracle, SQL Server, DB2.

Responsibilities

• Own the technical delivery of the application stack from requirements to production.
• Lead sprint planning, write stories, and guide the team to commit to timelines.
• Define development tooling strategy and CI/CD toolchains.
• Mentor engineers, enforce best practices, and drive a product-focused mindset.
• Maintain high availability and respond to incidents out of hours as needed.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to align on goals and roadmaps.
