Job summary

Duke Energy leads in energy solutions and reliability, seeking a Lead Financial Analyst to support jurisdictional forecasting in the Carolinas. You will model capital, wholesale, and fuel forecasts, deliver insightful analytics, and prepare management reporting for key stakeholders.

Work closely with FP&A, Rates & Regulatory Strategy, Accounting, and Resource Planning to build the jurisdictional financial plan. Strong analytical, communication, and PowerPoint skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance/Economics or similar discipline
• 5+ years (8+ desired) of increasingly diverse or complex experience in related field in addition to degree
• Possesses and applies a comprehensive knowledge of accounting and finance principles, practices, and procedures to complete moderately complex assignments
• Proficient using Microsoft products such as Excel, Word, and Power Point

Responsibilities

• Modeling portions of the 5-year financial forecast for the Carolinas based on inputs provided by various stakeholder groups.
• Performing analytics to validate modeling results, compiling Senior Management and Board presentation materials, and ad hoc reporting/data requests.
• Managing capital inputs including AFUDC, depreciation expense, recoverability and cash flow impacts; coordinate with FP&A teams.
• Partnering with Rates & Regulatory Strategy to develop and model strategic regulatory assumptions
• Analyzing and communicating key business drivers of financial statements including ROE, capitalization, credit metrics
• Providing monthly updates on current year projected earnings to FP&A leadership and preparing presentation materials for State Presidents
• Supporting accounting on monthly actual vs budget analyses
• Assisting in strategic planning scenarios to evaluate EPS and cash flow impacts
• Working with cross-functional business partners to build assumptions for jurisdictional financial and operational plans
