Job summary

Stanley Black & Decker, Inc. is hiring a Lead Embedded Software Engineer in a hybrid role based in Troy, MI or Highland Heights, OH. You’ll lead embedded firmware development for precision fastening systems, mentor engineers, and shape software strategy across SAT products.

You’ll design and implement real‑time firmware in C/C++, develop on RTOS and Embedded Linux, build drivers for CAN/I2C/UART/SPI, and guide architecture with a focus on quality and scalability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant technical discipline.
• Significant experience in embedded firmware/software development using C and C++.
• Experience developing for embedded devices and Embedded Linux platforms.
• Experience with RTOS and low‑level device drivers.
• Strong ARM‑based knowledge (Cortex‑M3/4, i.MX).
• Familiarity with CAN/I2C/UART/SPI/Ethernet/TCP/UDP.
• Experience with GCC, Keil, CCS, and MS Visual Studio.
• Proficiency with lab tools and reading schematics/datasheets.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain embedded firmware in C/C++ for devices.
• Develop RTOS‑based embedded applications and low‑level drivers.
• Support embedded Linux and drivers for industrial systems.
• Lead software design, architecture decisions, and best practices.
• Mentor engineers through code reviews and problem solving.
• Collaborate with validation, electrical, systems, and product teams.
