Job summary

SOA in Chicago, IL seeks a Manager of Information Technology to lead the IT team and drive infrastructure strategy. This role blends hands-on technical work with people leadership, overseeing cloud, Microsoft 365, networking, and IT projects in a mission-driven nonprofit environment.

You will manage a team, partner with stakeholders, and ensure secure, reliable IT services while steering budgeting and vendor management. The position is hybrid with onsite three days per week in Chicago area.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of IT experience with progressive responsibility.
• 5+ years of people management or supervisory experience.
• Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft 365 and AWS.
• Solid networking knowledge (firewalls, Wi‑Fi, VPNs) and infrastructure.
• Experience leading IT projects, vendors, and budgets.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a team including Senior Systems Administrator and two Systems Administrators.
• Oversee day-to-day IT infrastructure and end-user operations.
• Administer Microsoft 365/Azure environments (Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive).
• Manage AWS infrastructure for compute, storage, networking and security.
• Oversee LAN/WAN, Wi‑Fi, VPNs, firewalls, and internet connectivity.
• Manage office/server-room infrastructure and AV technology.
• Oversee Help Desk, SLAs, escalations, and end-user support.
• Assist with budgeting, invoicing, forecasting and cost optimization.
• Ensure cybersecurity practices across infrastructure and cloud environments.
• Coach and develop team members through performance management.
