Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a Hydraulic Structures Engineer to join our multidisciplinary team in the United States and beyond. You will analyze and design hydraulic structures for flood control, hydroelectric, and water-resource projects, lead project teams, and develop proposals.

The role offers partial remote work and opportunities to mentor junior staff, contribute to project delivery, and collaborate with clients. PE license and 10 years' experience are highly valued.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil, Architectural or Structural Engineering or related discipline.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• 10 years of related experience.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required.
• Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and design hydraulic structures related to flood control, hydroelectric, and other water resource projects.
• Lead project teams of structural engineers and coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams.
• Prepare project proposals consisting of scopes of work, budgets, and schedules.
• Forecast workload and schedules.
• Prepare contract documents including drawings, specifications, design documentation and criteria.
• Perform engineering services during construction, including review of shop drawing submittals.
• Conduct inspections and structural assessments of existing structures and prepare reports.
• Prepare and present technical presentations to project team, clients, and technical review boards.
• Conduct risk analyses for hydraulic structures and document findings.
• Manage tasks on large projects or multiple medium projects.
• Review others' work for quality and code compliance.
• Monitor budgets and schedules.
• Participate in business development and recruiting activities.
• Mentor junior staff.
