Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a Hydraulic Structures Engineer to join our multidisciplinary team on flood control, water and wastewater projects in the United States. You will lead structural analyses, design hydraulic structures, and coordinate with engineers across disciplines.

The role requires PE licensure and about 10 years of related experience; travel may be necessary. We value collaboration, rigorous quality checks, and the ability to mentor junior staff while delivering world-class solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Architectural or Structural Engineering or related discipline.
• PE license required.
• 10 years of related experience.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as duties require.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and design hydraulic structures for flood control and water resources.
• Lead project teams and coordinate with multidisciplinary groups.
• Prepare scopes of work, budgets, and schedules for proposals.
• Forecast workload and manage project schedules.
• Prepare contract drawings, specs, cost estimates, and bid docs.
• Perform engineering during construction and review shop drawings.
• Conduct inspections and prepare technical reports.
• Present technical information to clients and review boards.
• Lead risk analyses and manage project budgets.
• Mentor junior staff and support business development activities.
