Job summary

VersAbility Resources is seeking an experienced HR Generalist to serve as the primary HR partner for West Coast Government Contract operations based in Hampton, VA. You will manage recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, HRIS (Paychex), benefits, and compliance while supporting multiple locations and leaders.

The role requires 3–5 years of HR experience, a relevant bachelor's degree, and strong confidentiality with a focus on employee experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Management, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience may be considered.
• Three to five years of progressively responsible HR experience.
• Experience supporting multi-site operations, government contracts, or compliance-driven organizations preferred.
• Experience with California employment laws and leave administration preferred.
• Experience using an HRIS, preferably Paychex.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary HR liaison for assigned West Coast Government Contract employees and managers.
• Coordinate employee status changes, including hires, transfers, promotions, leaves of absence, and separations.
• Support recruitment activities by coordinating interviews, onboarding, and pre-employment requirements.
• Assist hiring managers with compliant interview and selection documentation.
• Partner with managers on employee relations matters, investigations, and performance management.
• Coordinate disability-related employment documentation with the Quality & Compliance team.
• Maintain personnel files and HRIS records (Paychex).
• Generate HR and compliance reports and metrics.
• Coordinate training, onboarding, and compliance activities.
• Support benefits administration and open enrollment.
• Travel periodically to contract locations to provide onsite HR support.
