Manhattan Strategy Group in Bethesda, MD is seeking a Human Resource Generalist to support the HR team with daily operations, including benefits and leave administration, payroll actions, and maintaining employee records.

This full-time, hybrid role (2–3 days in-office per week) reports to the Director of Human Resources and also provides recruitment support, ensures compliance with federal, state, and local laws, and handles inquiries to uphold confidentiality and professional standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required.
  • 3-5 years progressive human resource management experience.
  • 1-2+ years prior experience in a government contracting environment.
  • SHRM-CP or PHR certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Supports daily HR operations including benefits and leave administration.
  • Reviews, processes payroll actions, and maintains employee personnel records.
  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Provides recruiting support and onboarding assistance as needed.
  • Attends employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations as needed.

Job description

The Human Resource Generalist will support the HR Team with the daily functions of the Human Resource (HR) department including benefits and leave administration, reviewing and processing payroll actions, maintaining employee personnel records, enforcing company policies and practices, and may also include providing additional recruitment support. This is a full-time position is based out of our Corporate location in Bethesda, MD on a hybrid work schedule (2-3 days in-office per week), reporting to the Director of Human Resources.

Core Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Reviews, tracks, anddocumentscompliance with mandatoryand non-mandatorytraining, continuing education, andwork assessments. Thismay includerequiredtraining, anti-harassment training, professionallicensureand certifications.
  • Initiatesandacquiresbackground checks andconductsemployee eligibility verifications.
  • Supportsnew hire onboarding process and employee recognition programsas needed.
  • Performs routine tasksrequiredto administerand executehuman resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits and leaveadministration; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, andemployee engagement; occupational health and safety; and training and development.
  • Handlesemployment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors,and referringcomplexand/or sensitive matters to theappropriatestaff.
  • Attendsandparticipatesin employeedisciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigationsas needed.
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations; reviews policies and practices tomaintaincompliance with recommendedbest practices.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, andnew technologiesin human resources, talent management, and employment law.
  • Provide recruiting supportin the hiring ofqualified applicants for open positionsas needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Hybrid work schedule:2-3 days in the Bethesda, MD Corporate office

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related fieldrequired.
  • At least3-5 yearsofprogressivehuman resource management experience
  • 1-2+ yearsprior experiencein agovernment contractingenvironment
  • SHRM-CPor PHR certification isa plus.
Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periodsofsitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
  • Must be able toaccessand navigateeach department at theorganization’sfacilities.
