Job summary

Research Foundation of The City University of New York (RFCUNY) invites applications for an Advisor within the CUNY EDGE program at John Jay College. The role delivers integrated advising that combines academic planning, career development, and personalized student support.

A focus on persistence, graduation, and post-graduation success is expected. The Advisor will manage a caseload, assist with financial aid and public-benefit requirements, and contribute to workshops and program initiatives,

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in education, counseling, social work, public administration, or a related field.
• Minimum of 2 years of advising, case management, or student support services.
• Demonstrated ability to support diverse student populations, including first-generation and low-income students.
• Strong communication, organizational, and documentation skills.
• Ability to build trust and rapport with students using a student-centered and culturally responsive approach.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and similar tools.

Responsibilities

• Provide holistic one-on-one and group advising blending academic planning, career development, and student support.
• Guide students in selecting majors, planning coursework, and staying on track for timely graduation.
• Support students in exploring career interests, internships, and job opportunities.
• Maintain a caseload and deliver proactive support, monitoring progress and addressing challenges.
• Assist students navigating financial aid, scholarships, and public benefit requirements.
• Contribute to program communications, materials, and initiatives.
• Maintain accurate documentation of advising interactions and outcomes in DMS and EABNavigate.
• Support HRAFellowship Program onboarding, workshops, and time tracking.
• Collaborate with college departments to refer students and obtain information.
• Contribute to audit readiness and program reporting.
