Job summary

RFCUNY is seeking an Advisor to provide academic and career support to CUNY EDGE students both virtually and on campus. The role focuses on mentoring, advisement, and facilitating workshops while coordinating with various college departments to promote student success.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor’s degree and has experience in higher education or social services, with strong communication and organizational skills. Some evening/weekend work may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required with professional experience in higher education or social services preferred.
• Strong customer service skills to identify needs and improve processes.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Familiarity with CUNY policies and platforms (CUNYfirst, DegreeWorks, EAB Navigate).
• Ability to academically and personally advise students and support educational and career objectives.
• Commitment to the advisement model and to serving college students.

Responsibilities

• Provide academic and career advisement to a caseload of up to 100 students (virtual and on-campus).
• Conduct individual, group, and online advising sessions.
• Track student progress, maintain records, and propose action plans to promote graduation.
• Collaborate with college departments to support student success and refer students as needed.
• Coordinate and promote seminars and workshops; participate in recruitment and orientation efforts.
• Ensure confidentiality of student records and adhere to program requirements.
