Job summary

Plain is redefining customer support with a fast, AI-enabled platform. We seek a Forward Deployed Engineer to own customer deployments from diagnosis to shipping fixes, blending frontend and backend work with clear tradeoffs.

You’ll collaborate with Sales, CX, Product, and Core Engineering to influence the roadmap and scale the Forward Deployed function for growing customers, while ensuring robust, scalable solutions.

Qualifications

• Built and shipped full-stack products end-to-end with strong frontend (React/TypeScript) and production-grade backend.
• Experience designing scalable systems for customer deployments and migrations.
• Ability to translate customer context into concrete scope and roadmaps.

Responsibilities

• Work directly with customers to diagnose problems, scope fixes, and ship end-to-end solutions.
• Own system design for customer deployments balancing correctness, scale, and speed.
• Explain plans and tradeoffs to engineers and non-engineers alike.
• Collaborate with Sales, CX, Product, and core Engineering to feed learnings into the roadmap.
• Help define how Forward Deployed functions grow and scale.
