Job summary

Maricopa County seeks a seasoned Project Manager to lead planning, design, and development of major flood risk reduction projects. You will guide multidisciplinary teams through concept to construction, balancing engineering, environmental planning, and community engagement.

Qualifications

• Four years of experience managing large projects in capital improvement, scoping, design, and construction, engineering, architecture, urban planning, traffic/roadway, or related scopes.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, Urban Planning, Public Administration, Business Administration, or a closely related field.
• A combination of post-secondary education and/or job-related experience may substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership, direction, and guidance in project development.
• Manage and coordinate consulting engineers, planners, and other staff to assure proper execution of all phases of a project.
• Plan the work and direct the development of the project design, scope of work, schedules, budgets, criteria, standards, and specifications; resolve complex problems and assure conformance to regulations.
• Collaborate with stakeholders, including reviews of project plans, specifications, technical/design reports, cost estimates, public exhibits, and analyses with in-house staff and partners.
• Prepare, negotiate, and maintain project authorizations (MOUs, Resolutions, IGAs) and present to Boards.
• Present projects at public meetings and board meetings, address public concerns, and track project status.
• Participate in consultant selections and contract negotiations.
