Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a Fire Protection Engineer to join our team, contributing to life-safety and fire protection designs for civil and federal projects. You will evaluate NFPA/UFC compliance, perform DESIGN analyses and collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to deliver robust solutions.

The role offers a hybrid work environment with potential travel to client sites across the United States. A PE license and several years of related experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Architectural or Chemical Engineering or related discipline.
• Professional Engineering (PE) license required.
• 7 years of related experience or equivalent.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed.

Responsibilities

• Develops fire protection designs including hydraulics, sprinkler and alarm systems.
• Acts as QFPE for federal projects and ensures life-safety compliance.
• Reviews designs for NFPA/UFC and other regulations and signs off.
• Collaborates with sales and clients on proposals and RFPs.
• Mentors junior staff and may supervise engineers on project work.
