CDM Smith seeks a Fire Protection Engineer to join our team. You will contribute to projects that protect lives and property and help shape resilient environments. This hybrid role supports work in multiple US offices with collaboration across disciplines.

The ideal candidate has PE licensure, 7 years of related experience, and strong CAD knowledge. You will work on NFPA/UFC compliant designs and mentor junior staff, traveling as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Architectural or Chemical Engineering or related discipline.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• 7 years of related experience.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Developing comprehensive fire protection engineering designs, including layouts, basis-of-design, hydraulics, and detailed plans for sprinkler, suppression, pumps and alarms.
• Acting as QFPE for federal projects, providing life safety, fire suppression and fire alarm analysis and design.
• Reviewing draft designs for compliance with regulations and signing off on completed designs.
• Creating fire protection and life safety evaluations such as egress analysis and water supply evaluations.
• Evaluating systems using HydraCAD, HydraCALC, or similar software as required.
• Collaborating with sales staff to respond to RFPs and prepare compliant proposals.
• Meeting with clients to review current and future design needs.
• Providing technical guidance and mentoring to junior staff.
