CDM Smith is seeking a Fire Protection Engineer to design and review fire protection and life safety systems for federal and commercial projects. The role emphasizes life safety analyses, NFPA compliance, and collaboration with sales and clients across multiple offices within a hybrid work environment.

Qualified candidates will have a PE license, a mechanical/chemical/architectural background, and extensive experience in fire protection design, water supply, and system hydraulics.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Architectural or Chemical Engineering, or in Engineering Technology or related discipline.
• Professional engineering (PE) license.
• 7 years of related experience.
• Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required.

Responsabilités

• Develop comprehensive fire protection engineering designs including sprinkler and suppression systems, water supply analyses and detailed plans.
• Act as QFPE for federal projects, providing life safety, fire suppression and alarm analysis and design.
• Review drafts for compliance with regulations and sign off on designs.
• Create fire protection and life safety engineering designs and evaluations as needed to meet client requirements.
• Collaborate with sales staff to create proposals and review drafts for compliance with regulations and best practices.
• Meet with clients to review design needs and perform site assessments to ensure alignment with standards.
• Provide technical guidance and training to junior staff and potentially supervise engineers on project work.
