Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a Fire Protection Engineer to join a global team and deliver fire protection and life safety designs for meaningful projects. The role supports federal and commercial work, with a hybrid office/remote arrangement and travel as required.

You will collaborate with sales on proposals, review designs for NFPA/UFC compliance, and mentor junior staff. The position requires a PE license and a Bachelor’s degree in engineering, with about 7 years of related experience.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Architectural or Chemical Engineering or related discipline.
PE license required or eligible for licensure.
7 years of related experience and willingness to travel as needed.
Domestic and/or international travel may be required.

Responsibilities

Develop fire protection engineering designs including layouts, basis-of-design, water supply, hydraulics, and detailed plans for systems.
Act as QFPE for federal projects with life safety, fire suppression and alarm analysis.
Review designs for compliance with NFPA, UFC, and local regulations; sign off on designs.
Collaborate with sales staff to prepare proposals and respond to RFPs.
Mentor junior staff and coordinate project work; may supervise engineers.
