Job summary

The North Carolina Department of Natural and Cultural Resources (DNCR) invites applications for a Financial Operations Accountant. This role performs technical accounting tasks, records and analyzes data in NCFS, reconciles payroll and expenditures, and prepares journal entries.

The position supports budgeting and financial reporting for multiple contracts. Typical schedule is Monday–Friday, 8am–5pm, with hybrid telework eligibility under the department policy.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, or a degree in business administration, finance or public administration with 18 semester hours of accounting; or equivalent combination.
• Experience running NCFS reports and/or NCFS accounting structure; familiarity with IHRPS and BD701.
• Experience with payroll reconciliations, journal entries, and tax entries in NCFS/IHRPS.
• Knowledge of BD701 reporting and NCFS reporting workflows.

Responsibilities

• Analyze NCFS and IHRPS reports to oversee invoices for multiple contracts and reconcile salary revenues and expenditures.
• Research salary reserve discrepancies between IHRPS and IBIS; perform payroll reconciliations.
• Prepare and key journal vouchers in NCFS; review budget actions and ensure proper cost codes.
• Create NCFS reports for departmental staff on a weekly basis; support budget and finance operations.
