Job summary

Future Caucus seeks a Senior Director of Finance / Controller to lead our finance operations, ensuring integrity of financial systems, reporting, controls, compliance, planning, and analysis. This role reports to the Interim COO and requires hands-on leadership in budgeting and financial management.

Hybrid role based in Washington, DC, with anticipated start December 2026 or January 2027. The ideal candidate has nonprofit finance expertise, strong communication, and a track record of building

Qualifications

• Minimum 7+ years of relevant nonprofit finance experience.
• Experience managing a budget of $4M or more.
• Degree in finance, accounting, nonprofit/business administration, or equivalent.
• Experience with nonprofit financial systems, grants, and board-level reporting.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with diverse stakeholders.
• Excel and financial tools proficiency (QuickBooks, forecasting, AP).

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic financial guidance to the CEO, COO, and Board.
• Oversee annual operating budget and forecasting with the COO/CEO.
• Oversee external accounting firm, audits, and tax filings.
• Establish internal controls and financial risk management.
• Prepare monthly/quarterly/annual financial reports and narratives.
