United Way Worldwide in Alexandria, VA seeks a senior finance leader to oversee preparation and reporting of the organization’s financial statements. You will collaborate with Leadership and serve on the Finance Group Leadership Team, guiding annual goals and managing the Accounting Team.

This role manages cash flow, budgeting, audits, and internal controls, with responsibilities for the annual 990 and grant reporting. Hybrid work after a 90-day intro period.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
• CPA license required.
• 10 years of expert-level experience in a similar role, preferably with a nonprofit organization.
• Five years of previous people management experience.
• Five to 10 years of experience in a leadership role.
• Experience with government contracting a plus.
• Excellent project management skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to effectively communicate financial data.
• Ability to interact with all levels of staff.
• Excellent presentation skills.

Responsabilités

• Develops, analyzes and interprets statistical and accounting information to assess operating results and budget performance.
• Manages organizational cash flow including funding programs as needed.
• Coordinates preparation of budget and forecasts, reports variances.
• Manages all banking activities and builds bank relationships.
• Reports monthly financial statements with accuracy and transparency.
• Develops and maintains effective internal controls and policies.
• Oversees annual audits conducted by external auditors.
• Oversees annual 990 tax return and related state returns.
• Engages with the Finance Council and develops accounting guidance.
• Develops a high-performing Accounting Team and supports CFO with committees.
• Provides information for grant applications and fundraising reporting.
