Job summary

Caminar seeks a Controller to oversee accounting, budgeting, financial reporting, and strategic planning across its programs. The role reports to the CFO and leads FP&A and accounting staff, ensuring smooth operations in a hybrid environment.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in accounting/finance with nonprofit and healthcare familiarity, GAAP expertise, and CPA preferred. This leadership position supports grant management, compliance, and organizational growth.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of progressively responsible accounting and finance experience with at least 3+ years in leadership.
• Significant experience in nonprofit accounting per U.S. GAAP.
• Healthcare background required; experience with governmental funding (HUD, Medi-Cal) is highly valued.
• CPA preferred; nonprofit experience is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Lead FP&A, accounting, and payroll teams and supervise staff.
• Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and GAAP compliance.
• Manage budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting for grants and programs.
• Collaborate with Program Executives to align resources with priorities and strategic goals.
• Coordinate annual audits and external reporting with funders and regulators.
