Job summary

Gemini is seeking a Manager of Software Engineering (Product) in our Tooling department to lead multiple backend, web, and mobile engineering teams in building the customer-facing platform tooling used by millions of users. You will shape roadmaps, design organizations, and guide engineers toward robust, scalable, available systems.

You will steer architecture, drive high-quality engineering practices, and champion AI-assisted development.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in software development and delivery.
• 3+ years managing engineering teams delivering high-quality software for customers.
• Experience with modern software engineering concepts, including AI coding tools and automation in the development workflow.
• Expertise in full-stack systems built with Scala or Java and React Native.
• Experience building consumer-facing applications with a product- and UX-focused mindset.
• Experience establishing successful partnerships with product managers, project managers, and business owners.

Responsibilities

• Create and evolve a structure and organization design for your team.
• Involve yourself in system architecture to guide new systems and integrations and scale for performance and availability.
• Increase engineering quality through code reviews, design reviews, testing, and CI/CD, and advance AI coding tools usage.
• Drive team performance and meet deadlines and targets.
• Make hiring plans and decisions for the team.
