Job summary

Gemini is a global crypto and Web3 platform seeking a Staff Software Engineer (Product) on the Tooling team in New York City. You will shape customer-facing tooling across backend, web, and mobile to improve onboarding, compliance, and support experiences for millions of users.

You will mentor engineers, guide architectural decisions, and work with AI-assisted development tools in a high-ownership role that spans multiple systems and teams.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering experience building and operating complex production systems at scale.
• A track record of independently designing and delivering large, multi-system or multi-team projects from architecture through operation.
• Experience across backend services plus web and/or mobile.
• Experience building consumer-facing applications with strong UX/UI sensibility.
• Fluency in using AI coding tools and automation.
• Expertise in unit and integration testing and maintaining code health.
• Customer- and product-focused mindset with well-reasoned tradeoffs.
• Technical leadership: influencing architecture and mentoring across teams.

Responsibilities

• Independently scope, design, and deliver solutions across backend, web, and mobile, owning multi-system outcomes end to end.
• Drive onboarding, identity/KYC, and customer support workflows at scale.
• Set technical direction beyond your immediate team and guide diverse stakeholders.
• Leverage AI coding tools and agentic development pipelines to improve productivity.
• Own DevOps lifecycle for your systems, including security and disaster recovery.
• Plan and deliver multi-team, long-term projects with external dependencies.
• Conduct code and design reviews for correctness, quality, and security.
• Mentor engineers and contribute to technical direction and culture.
• Tackle ambiguous, high-stakes problems aligned with company objectives.
