Job summary

Gemini is a global crypto and Web3 platform seeking a Principal Product Engineer to set the technical direction for the customer-facing platform. The role spans backend, web, and mobile, with a focus on scalable architecture and AI-assisted development.

In-person twice weekly in New York City is required. You will mentor engineers, drive company-wide initiatives in onboarding, compliance, and support, and shape patterns and guidelines used across teams.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of software engineering experience building and operating complex production systems at scale.
• Proven track record driving architecture and design for hardest technical challenges across teams.
• Ability to set technical vision with company-level impact and strategic engineering decisions.
• Fluency across backend + web/mobile, and willingness to go deep where needed.
• Experience with AI coding tools and agentic development practices.

Responsibilities

• Own the technical vision and architecture for the customer-facing platform, designing for scale with a multi-year horizon.
• Review critical designs across organizations and drive directions beyond your own team.
• Be accountable for core initiatives spanning onboarding, compliance (KYC/identity), and customer support.
• Identify strategic technology directions and tie technical bets to company objectives.
• Plan and deliver large cross-organizational programs with interdependencies across teams.
• Define patterns and engineering practices for your vertical and drive cross-team improvements.
• Provide technical guidance to raise security, reliability, and quality across the org.
• Mentor engineers and future leaders, growing talent and leading cross-domain initiatives.
• Drive a strategic vision for strong systems and engineering culture; contribute to recruiting.
